Notes

This is easily one of the nicest things I’ve ever crocheted. Love it, Love it, Love it. Officially ended up with 5g of yarn left.

7-31-10 Finished! The shawl is blocking and grew lots, so I’m glad I only did 2 repeats of the diamond section. This sucker is too big for my 4 x 4 foot blocking board so I’m doing my best. Ended up with just a bit of yarn left. Perfect. Pics soon.

7-2-10 Still working on this between projects- I’m on my first edging repeat and think I may only do 2 repeats so that it stays a manageable size for actual use. I love following the chart, it makes it SO easy and I haven’t referred to the written directions once. You might want to blow it up on a copy machine, however--sometimes the ch-sps can be hard to read. Also, this shawl has made me realize I need new glasses. I’m not kidding! :)

6-5-10 Slowly toiling away at this and I seem to make a mistake every time I work on it and have to rip back a row or so to correct it (that’s ok, more time crocheting!). This definitely fatigues my hands, probably partially because of all of the picots, but I will soldier on like a turtle. It is going to be gorgeous (it already is!). I may do 3 repeats of the first section to make up for my smaller hook, as I prefer a bigger middle and less repeats of the edging (to make it more dramatic…cause I love drama). We’ll see.

6-1-10 This pattern is addictive, but I have to be careful because the thin yarn is definitely harder on my hands. I was happily crocheting when I realized I skipped a dc 6 or 7 rows back and had to rip (I’ve become much less lazy about fixing things, and it kind of sucks! haha).

5-31-10 I bought this gorgeous yarn last summer in Bozeman and have been saving it for something special. I knew when I found the pattern for this crocheted shawl that it was the one! I admit it, this is another one of my efforts to show people what you can do with crochet.

I started it tonight and got through about 15 rows-- it’s very enjoyable and intuitive and I LOVE the included chart. I’m using a sticky note along each diagonal row to help me keep track of where I am. I’m holding the yarn single and switched to a smaller hook to accomodate that.
