This pattern is mind-bending.
I have some usefull notes from other people

Heel turn goes from end of right gusset to last knit on sole, wrapping before twist

and

Basically for large, aim to get 8 sts left side + 24 knit sts top + 8 sts right side + 24 knit sts sole

and

Simply top, bottom & 2 side sections. Reducing gusset to 64 sts (for large) was so confusing until I figured out that I am aiming to get (TOP) 4 sts side + 24 knit sts front + 4 sts side + (BOTTOM) 4 sts side + 24 knit sts sole + 4 sts side

the last 2 from joom
