a single skein from my mother-in-law’s stash. when I knit the hat (several years back), my notes said I started with a size 7 needle, but it seemed tight, so I switched to an 8. This time I started with the 8, but it seemed loose. So after an inch I switched to a 7 :-)

yarn seems like a perfect match for the pattern!
