8/8 This was the big day! I decided to try dyeing the yarn for this shawl. It was a fun challenge to figure out how to wind the yarn to get repeats that are eight yards long since this is what I estimate I need to get the full effect of the bubbles.

I wound the yarn into five section and color coded each section with yarn to be sure I kept them in the correct order and dyed each section the correct color.

The winding and dyeing took me all day and was fun. But, I am not in love with the colors, especially the fuchsia. They look like colors a preteen girl would want for her bedroom and, sadly, am no longer a preteen girl. :-) Maybe I could over dye each skein to tone down the colors? With what?

8/9 I wound the yarn into balls and I am beginning to like the colors more. Probably won’t over dye.

8/12 Starting to see the bubbles take shape!

8/29 I finished my first ball of yarn and about to start my second ball. At this point the shawl measures approximately 16” x 29”.

9/17 finished knitting in the car on the way home from visiting 1hundredprojects. Unblocked the shawl measures 16” x 50”. When I started knitting with the second ball I discovered I had switched the order of the red and blue sections. Interesting to me how this changes the look of the two sections. Probably more evident after I block it.

9/18 Blocking to 25” x 65”
