Notes

Second time’s the charm. I was unhappy with my first Foliage hat and decided to try with a thinner yarn. I knitted a swatch and found I needed to use size 6 needles. I used Magic loop method in place of DPNs in the beginning to knit the crown then switched to 16”circular needles for the body.

I used markers for every 8th stitch in the lace section and this tremendously sped up the knitting as I avoided the mistakes I made during the first try. I made sure to count after every 8th section as I had the tendency to drop stitches especially when it’s a yarn over.

I also tried the hat after two lace section repeats and decided I didn’t need the third repeat even though it was suggested in the pattern.

I lengthened the rib section by four more rows.

I bound using size 6 needles.

I think this size fits me better. The lace design opens up and there is no scrunching at the back.

As for the yarn, although a bit splitty, no major problems. Color is so lovely. I love Sundara yarn.
