Notes

This is an awesome, unusual hat pattern, and the finished product is super cute! I have no idea how Lee figured out how to make a flat item hat-shaped, but it works!

I started out using a red tweed recycled lambswool yarn, but the cable definition wasn’t good; it worked better with a lighter colored yarn.

I didn’t do a gauge swatch because I’m lazy. Luckily, it worked out okay. I stopped after row 106, because it fit around my 22.5-inch head snugly when stretched. My gauge must have been big, since stopping at Row 106 was supposed to give an x-small or small circumference.

I rated the pattern as difficult because it uses some more advanced techniques (shadow wraps, cables without a needle--cool!), and it’s not the kind of pattern that you can memorize and watch TV while you knit. But it’s not actually that hard once you get going, as long as you pay attention to the pattern and mark off each row as you go.
