Notes

Wow, this yarn is so soft!
Started with 176 chainless foundation DC.

I really like the effect of this stitch pattern. It’s all post stitches, but not extremely bulky or stiff.

Note to self: The DC after the Post stitch I believe is in the same stitch as the post stitch made after you do the post stitch causing the post stitch to curve a little. I had to frog the beginning of the third row and the second row because I had put the DC one more stitch over before I realized that. If I make again… REMEMBER THIS.

Just working out a few different ways to do the last long edge to make it look like a match to the other side and then I will be done!

So for the final edge, I did a double crochet behind the row in the gaping space between the existing DC and Post stitch. It was weird. Yarn over, hook from back to front under top stitch (2 loops) then front to back under bottom stitch (2 loops), then work the double crochet behind your work. Then slip stitch 2 together starting with the current stitch. Front to back to front, finish slip stitch, repeat across to end. So far it looks good.

I ended the row with a slip stitch and cut the yarn.
Then I went back to the beginning of the row, started with a slip stitch then SC then HDCs for the row ending with SC and a slip stitch. I see where BLO would work well too to mimic the other side. Working on the wrong side for the DC fillers may have worked well also.

I think the reason it looked like such a large gaping space when I followed the pattern is because I used Bulky instead of worsted weight.

So I had some big gaps on the ends too, hence the fringe. 4 strands of 14” for each fringe. 6 on one side, 5 on the other which matched the gaps.

I used 3 skeins for this scarf. The first 2 were great. The last one midway through the skein was all knotted up and took a long time to untangle.

I love this scarf, but when I put it on, the alpaca had done me wrong! It was all scratchy! Reading more comments about this yarn, I see I am not alone. I don’t care, I love this scarf and it’s warm. I’m wearing it anyway. But I don’t think I’ll be buying Bernat’s Alpaca Natural Blends again anytime soon.
