Notes

I think a loose cast-on is key to this shawl looking good. I didn’t go up in size on the cast-on, remembering what Joan Schroeder always says about how a larger needle just makes a bigger row of stitches, not a looser edge. So I tried to just really separate the stitches on the needle while casting on. Of course, now I live in fear of the edge not being loose enough when I get to blocking it. I don’t like it when the edges just look rounded and don’t have strong points…

This is for my boyfriend’s mom, because her husband (L’s father) just passed away. :(

Using size 8/0 TOHO beads in a purple color. I am using leftover beads from another project.

Can’t believe I used less than a skein. For the cast-on, I used two different strands while long-tailing so I didn’t need to figure out how long to make it. The edge was loose enough, but could have been even a little more loose.

I need to get a picture of Carol with this shawl/scarf!
