started gauge swatch.

9/5/09
I ended up doing four swatches and none were exactly on gauge so I chose the closest and am hoping all works out especially considering that the smallest size of this is still a smidge too big. Anyway, right sleeve is done tonight. I’m debating whether or not I want to make the sleeve longer…

9/7/09
Basically what I’ve done is configure the pattern measurements to my gauge. Hopefully this all works out. I’m also making the sleeves full length. The single crochet is a little tedious.

9/10/09
I’ve completed the right sleeve and am now working on the front body and collar. the pattern is starting to confuse me a bit but I’m just gonna do my best to follow directions and hopefully it all comes out ok.

9/11/09
Right front with buttonholes and sleeve completed. Working on left front now. Found the MOST PERFECT buttons today at one of my LYS’s. They’re $4.50 each and I need seven so I’m not sure if they’ll be part of the finished product quite yet. I might have to buy one a week. :)

9/13/09
Have finished back and back collar. I’m working on the left front and back sholder. After that I’ll just need to finish the left sleeve (which i hope to have finished by tomorrow), sew seams and add buttons.

9/14/09
I have just about 80 rows of single crochet left for the left sleeve. Then sewing seams and blocking. I’m really bored with the single crochet at this point.

9/17/09
I will finish the arm tonight.

only 48 more rows….

Blocking in progress.

The sweater was finally dry and I started sewing seams only to find out THE SLEEVES ARE TOO LONG! and i don’t mean like an inch or two, try six maybe? I swear I did a gauge swatch. The rest of the sweater seems like it came out right on but I’m thinking the sleeves probably stretched out because they feel way heavy. So I’m gonna finish seaming and then work on unraveling the sleeves to fit. damn.

9/21/09
I fixed one sleeve. Had to frog 21 ROWS. The other sleeve is going to take longer because I’m unraveling it backwards since the whole thing is crocheted from right to left.

9/28/09
So I’ve put this down for a while because the whole one sleeve longer than the other really lit me up and I just didn’t feel like fixing it. I’ve started unraveling the too long sleeve but it’s slow going and I only pulled out three rows tonight. My goal is to work on this for at least an hour tomorrow.

10/27/09
FINALLY got all the rows unraveled tonight. I just need to finish the unraveled edge off and seam up the side.

10/28/09
ALL SEAMING IS DONE. I tried it on and the sleeves are still a smidge too long but only by maybe an inch or so. At this length, I can cuff them so it won’t be too bad. I’ve also sewn on one button, only six more to go.

10/29/09
FINISHED. I’ve learned that wool is heavy and stretches. Maybe next time (if there were to be a next time) stick with the shorter sleeve.
