Swatching tonight to make sure my gauge is ok. The pattern calls for a L hook but since I generally crochet much too tight, I’m going to start by using a P (which is actually 11.5mm but Ravelry doesn’t have it listed as this) and see how that goes. I am making this as a Christmas/Thank you gift for a friend of mine that will be house sitting with my pups while DH and I are in California for Christmas.

Ok, so this is going super fast. I’m already a bit more than halfway done. The most difficult thing about this project was starting it and doing the first round of double crochet into the chain since the stitches were so loose and a bit indistinguishable. I don’t think I will block it when I’m done because I don’t want it to loose the fluffiness. I started with chaining 66 so that this cowl is more like a snood. I want her to be able to wear it as a cowl, around her shoulders or as a hood. I’m LOVING the Kidsilk Haze. Lace weight doesn’t scare me and this is so wonderfully soft and not scratchy at all. The color of the yarn is very deep and rich, also. I’ll definitely use it again to make something else.

I’m starting to worry that I may run out of yarn. I’m starting the 2nd row of the 2nd series or FPTrp. After that there’s five more rows of FPDc. My most local LYS doesn’t have this colorway of the Kidsilk Haze. I have to drive about 45 minutes to get it from a different LYS and I’m pretty sure when I was last there they only had 1 ball left. And seriously, at $15 a pop, I really don’t have the cash right now for a third skein.

sure enough, ran out of yarn at the beginning of the first round of the last set of FPDc’s. On my way to get more.

This turned out great! It is super soft. I’m tempted to keep it. I hope Bk likes it. Pictures are up but not as good as I had hoped. DH was too impatient to take the photo for me so I had to do the classic self-portrait in the bathroom mirror.
My advice to anyone interested in this pattern is make sure you have more yarn than you think you’ll need and swatch first (especially if you know your gauge is generally off). If I hadn’t swatched and just done the project with the L hook like it calls for, it would have been super tiny. But from swatching I got the right size.
