8/15: 1000: CO! Am doing yo’s the row before increases to not pull the surrounding stitches when doing the M1 increase. I was gone this weekend and have a cat that misses me very much. I’m not sure how much knitting I’ll be able to do as it seems my most important job today is being a kitty cushion (and doing laundry).
-2000: Well, I got the first section done! More than that, actually. I was supposed to stop at 169 sts and instead I have 181. I think I’ll just make it work! Off to do math…. Just need to do 28 sts between slips rather than 26. No problem!

8/16: starting on the 2 color stripe section! As per my Sothia, I am bringing the new yarn color to the front up and over the previous color in the same direction each time. I’m really liking the color combination. I tried to determine if I slip stitches in Row 1 of the second section as the pattern doesn’t provide any guidance in this row only! Based on pictures, it looks like I need to knit the slipped stitches, so that’s what I’m going to do!

8/17: didn’t knit as much today as I had hoped. I have yet to start the second lighter skein, but I should soon! I have 9 stripes of each color. Pattern calls for 20, so I’m sure I’ll use a good portion of the second ball. My plan for yos is working well. Edges are done pretty loose. I hope it’s loose enough!

8/18: Made it to 13 stripes and started the second light green ball. Pattern calls for 20 stripes of each color, so I’m trying to tell myself I’m 2/3 done (with that section at least). The yarn is amazing to work with. I’m not minding knitting another shawl with it this summer at all!

8/21: the long rows are starting to get to me, so I started another project: a sweater knit in pieces. I’ve also been working on a presentation quite a bit, which results in less knitting time. It doesn’t help that my sister calls this my Brobee (from Yo Gabba Gabba) shawl. Considering changing my project name to “Brobee: the BIG little green one”

8/25: I’ve been working too much on the sweater and not enough on this shawl. I made myself work 4 rows (2 stripes) today, which brings me up to 16. I have at least 4 more sets of stripes to go!

8/26: Spent a lot of time working on this today. The first skein of dark green lasted through stripe 19, which is really past that since I made the initial section larger.

8/29: Broke out the scale. Have 30 grams of light green left. Still deciding if I want to use it to work an accent border along the cast off edge. I was thinking it would look cool as a longer picot edging…
Decision made! I didn’t have enough of the dark green to work a seventh garter ridge. I only got half way there (through row 2 of 4), so I decided to make use of the large amount of light green I had left. I worked 6 rows of garter stitch to have 3 garter ridges on the end and binding off as follows: CO 3 sts with cable cast on, BO 7. I’m not sure if I’ll have to fudge the numbers at the end as I don’t know how many stitches I started with! I’m concerned this shawl won’t be as deep as my Sothia, but I won’t know for sure until I finish the bind off and get it blocked!

8/30: Blocking! Gosh is it ever large! Est 28.5” deep and 9’ from tip to tip! To give you an idea of scale, each block in the picture is 12”x12”. I was standing 3’ off the ground to take the pic.

8/31: unpinned and tried on. OMG. This thing is huge! More than 6” of the first light green section are visible around the front of my shoulders. The points hang down to my knees. I could tuck the center point into my pants (accidentally, of course). I could tie it in back like a working woman’s shawl. This yarn is just as yummy in these colors as it has been in all the others I’ve used. It’s way softer after blocking. I love it!
