Notes

2010-09-14: finished the main body, and am now starting to knit up the sides. the instructions for this are convoluted, and i had to stop last night because i couldn’t wrap my mind around them. i am right on gauge and everything is ok until the row in picture 3. instructions start with 53 stitches, 6 stitches are laid aside on each side, leaving 41 stitches. then 19 times 2 stitches are knit together, which leaves 3 stitches at the end about which nothing is said -- should they all be at the end, or split 1/2? stitch count should be 22, which i have if i simply knit those 3. but wait, the last one of which gets just slipped and then things happen with an undefined “Seitenteil”… arrrgh. honest, i am fluent in german.

instructions reproduced in my journal:

2010-09-22: i did figure it out, and the pattern isn’t faulty; just confusingly written. need to still block the bag because the rib pattern causes it to be all bunched up. i’ll also end up lining the strap, i think, so it doesn’t curl and stretch out the wazoo when something is actually in the bag. i like the way the bag molds to my hip.
