Truly didn’t enjoy casting on 992 sts, but I put a marker every 50 sts to keep count.
After the initial 3 rows knit flat you join the work for knitting in the round
I wove my really long knit pro cable through the row of holes from the second row, going into every 3rd or 4th hole. This way, I could see if my work was twisted as it was rather bunched up on the cable of my lace needles.
Each row or round is taking about an hour and a half at the moment, but I have completed round 5 and have decreased a few stitches as the corners take shape
I can’t say I enjoyed the first 4 rows but as the pattern takes shape I am enjoying it more and more.
I have a marker between each pattern repeat and have used different markers for the corner sections
This pattern is beautifully written, and as long as I did what I was told, everything sorted itself out, even if it didn’t seem to make sense at the time. This was a scary project, lots of hours spent on it, knitting the next pattern repeat was a worrisome thing to do, as unpicking lace stitches is rather tricky! Maybe I need to learn how to do a life line….

I am a bit sad to have finished knitting this piece, and I’m also relieved. I made a few mistakes which were fudged into correctness and hopefully won’t show when I wear it!
For some reason, when kitchenering the stitches together, mine were mismatched which I noticed a few stitches in. I am presuming this is because of me being left-handed. I then took off 2 stitches instead of one in order to shift my work, which caused the stitches to match perfectly :o)
Beautiful yarn to work with, I will use it again :)
