Notes

9th May 2011
It took me a whole evening to cast on but once that was done I just sat back and enjoyed the delicious yarn travelling through my fingers. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed knitting with 2ply lace on bigger needles. Although, I have gone down to 3.5mm needle to get the right tension.

Now I am just meandering through miles and miles of stocking stitch, which suits me down to the ground, I need some mindless knitting to do right now as my mind is elsewhere right now. I am thinking that I might make this a bit longer too

28th may 2011
I’ve been working on this in the car as we drove, (well he drove and I knitted and slept!) from Cambridgeshire through France and on into Luarca in Northern Spain. Magical holiday!!

I made the skirt 2 inches longer than the pattern suggests.
I have done the lace up to the top of the back and am now about to knit the right front lace…it seems to be going quickly now :)

29th May
Started the sleeves, really really loving this pattern and yarn…no errors just beautiful directions for a happy knit!
Have found that my pair of fixed circulars (3mm as I knit loosely) give a smoother finish to the sleeves using magic loop. My interchangeable tips seem to have gaps that the fine yarn drops into making it hard to slide the stitches across.
I might be worthwhile investing in fixed circulars for this project, I just happened to have some in my kit!

3rd June
Finished both sleeves but made them about 2inches longer. I wasn’t sure about the flare on the cuff of the first sleeve so I went down a needle size for the cuff of the second sleeve, it still flares out. I’ll see what it does in the blocking before I change it.
Picked up and knitting the button band right now :)
I don’t want this to end….

4th June 2011
I finished knitting this last night, just needs buttons sewing on and blocking which I am doing as I type!

I weighed my cardigan and it’s just 175grammes for the 38.5inch size made longer in the body and sleeves. I almost feel I could have gone down a size as there is hardly any negative ease but I will discover more as i wear this beautiful garment.

This is my finest knitting achievement to date and I am in love with both the pattern and the yarn <3

ETA The Blocking cured the hems rolling on the sleeves…can’t wait to wear this!

ETA I would make the next size down if I made this again, it fits well but would look even better with more negative ease. There is hardly any at the moment. I still adore it though :) What colour shall I make next? Pink?
