Notes

Bought 2 skeins of Noro Kureyon with the intention of knitting a vest, but after thinking about it (it’s no wonder I can’t fall asleep at night! Think too much!), I think Noro would be better off as a shawl as it will showoff the colorway much better. I’m glad I made that call! Now I can’t wait to finish my Revontuli so I can see all the colors!

The pattern is easy to follow, and by placing markers (after each center st - the gray box) for each pattern repeat, it made knitting a breeze. Only slow-downs I have is due to the rough yarn as it is clinging to my bamboo needles! Most say the yarn will soften up after wash. How I wish I have a pair of Lace Addi Turbo!

Instead of counting, for an easy keep-track of the number of knits before the ^ center point:

  • using the ^ center point from the
previous row as guide, knit to 1 st before the ^ (from previous row), then proceed with the sl 1, k2tog, psso.

6/28/11:
Woohoo! Finally done after putting it off for several weeks to work on Shelliyanni

This yarn is absolutely horrible to work with! Very inconsistent thickness through out. I can’t stress enough on how the roughness keep clinging on my bamboo needles as if it is hanging on to its dear life! It just refuse to let go and slide when I push along my needle. Arg! The only thing that kept me going is the look of the gorgeous self-stripping color combination! Since it is so rough, it doesn’t felt at all when I knit, which is what I prefer on my working yarn, over a soft yarn that felt as I knit-along (like Mini Mochi).
Well, all that said, would I still buy Noro Kureyon Sock again?! Absolutely! I’m sold on their lovely color combination. Only this time, I would use a METAL needle!

Now, let’s give this stubborn baby a good lavender bath soak and see if it will soften up.

Unblocked measurement: 39” x 18”

6/30/11:
After a nice 2 hour bath, and a spin dry (in a lingerie bag) in the washer, Noro really did relax and softened up. It may not be the smooth and squishy softness, but it is a big difference from its original feel.

Blocked measurement: 47” x 23”
