Cast on 84 stitches to fit 7 year old. In the two rows of stockinette before the colourwork starts, I increased evenly to 96 stitches so the stitch count would match the pattern. No decrease math for me!

Knit 2 x 2 rib for 6 inches.

First time knitting fair isle and I’m really enjoying it! Had some tension issues with the floats in the back of the work, but figured it out.

Great hat, great pattern. Turned out really cute. Hat brim fits perfectly for 7 year old head. Love the malabrigo for the sprinkles because each sprinkle ended up being a different colour.

Included is a picture of a pair of striped mittens I knit to match the hat.
