Cast on 84 stitches for a cowl of my own!!!

Made this one slightly different, to try out an idea. At the end, three rows before casting off, I did a make one right before the knit ribbing and knit two together for the two knit stitches, then purled the two, all around, making eyelets. I knit/purled two rounds straight, then cast off.

I then found a complementary bit of yarn from my stash and made a 3-stitch I-cord, laced it through the eyelets and attached pom pons to the ends of the cord. This gives a bit of visual interest… and you can pull the cord tight and turn the cowl into a hat!
