8/3/11: socks turning out bigger because using 1s instead of 0s. Overall, I’m not crazy about the ruffled top. I’d rather just start at the basic ribbing after the ruffle. These won’t be worn right away because they’ll be far too large. Using yarn I’ve used for other projects. Love the color. Just have toe left to finish on first sock. Not my favorite pattern.

8/4/11: finished first sock. Modified the toe because I didn’t want to do the same short row stuff as for heel. Basic (ssk, k(), k2tog) x 2 - decreasing by 4 sts every round until 16 sts remain. Then Kitchener bind off. Makes for a stubby foot/toe, but I’m tired of the pattern. I was hoping for another quick, easy pattern but I’ve mostly felt confused and frustrated because it’s more of a recipe in some parts than a pattern. I dislike when patterns give general instruction, at least for those patterns that are more than beginner level, which I think this pattern is at least medium difficulty.

Toe looks much different than what pattern would render but its okay. Will push through and finish 2nd sock.

8/6/11: Socks finished. I gave this a medium difficulty rating because the heel/toe instructions were confusing for me. I wasn’t sure where I was supposed to be counting, etc. I figured it out and perhaps a more experienced short row knitter would have had no problem. Glad to have these off my needles and move on to the next project.
