Notes

A hat for my uncle’s wife’s birthday. She turned 40 today! Surprise party for her on Sunday, I thought this would be fun to knit for her. :)

2/27/11: Started and finished the hat in 2 days, working on it constantly. I would have preferred to a little more time but it was a bit of a rush project.

I got tired of the cabling. I really like how cables look, but I sometimes get frustrated by how much they slow me down. I don’t like cabling w/out a cable needle. I appreciated that every other row didn’t use the cable needle.

Decided to block the hat. The pattern says it’s meant to be a snug hat, but with blocking it would have a more finished look. It was VERY snug when it was done. But now that it’s blocked, it’s a little loose for my tastes. I would have preferred something in-between. I think I’ll look for a woman’s mannequin head for future hats because they’re shaped a bit differently.

It all works out, though, because this hat can be used as we approach spring and warmer weather. Sandra might still appreciate a hat, but won’t want a really heavy warm one.
