Wanted a quick project to get the knitting flowing. Don’t know who these will be for. Maybe our little girl, maybe not.
7/8/11: First time using Judy’s Magic Cast On. I struggled with it at first. I’m using dpns instead of magic loop because I don’t have any circs this small. Eventually got going, cast-on turned out great - it’s nice to have the seamless edge. :)
Finished the 1st sock. The heel is very pointy, it feels like I did the wrap & turns too deep, but I followed the pattern. Next time I would continue decreasing with short rows until there were 6 unwrapped stitches (or 7 wrapped stitches on each side).
I didn’t follow the w&t after picking up wrap and knitting wrap & stitch together. I had trouble picking up the correct # of sts and seemed too complicated (never made adult socks, or toe-up socks).
I knit 5 rows of 2x2 ribbing at the cuff (misread pattern, which calls for 1x1 ribbing) instead of 8 rows, binding off in pattern.
The colors from the yarn turned out great on these, I think I’ll keep them for Lovebug and see how they work on her feet. They’re sized 3-9 months.
Cute pattern but will probably only make 1 pair. Will knit the 2nd pair tomorrow.
7/9/11: Finished 2nd sock today. The heels aren’t bothering me as much today, although overall I think they’re too deep. At first I thought the stitch design was better suited for girls, but I think with the right yarn, it would be nice for boys too. :) The colors of the KP are more something I’d put on a boy, but these could be nice socks for around the house/at home.
