Another pair of fingerless mittens for me.

Shamrock is a great yarn, I’ll just have to remember that it’s hand wash, dry flat. This yarn makes a nice, dense knit fabric, perfect for cooler weather. :) And there’s just enough stretch to keep them comfortable.

10/30/10: CO 30 sts for this yesterday. I thought they would be too small but it worked out well. They’re nicely snug!

When I got to the end of the thumb, they were too short for my taste, below my bottom thumb knuckle, so I added 6 rows as follows:

Row 17 & 18: (instead of binding off, this is where I inserted the rows) Knit
Row 19: K15, sm, m1R, k13, m1L, sm, k14 - 44 sts
Row 20 & 21: Knit
Row 22: K15, sm, m1R, k15, m1L, sm, k14 - 46 sts
Row 23 (row 17 on original pattern): k15, bind off 17 sts between markers, cast on 1 stitch to close gap, k14 - 30 sts.

This makes for a longer, larger thumbhole. The next time I make these mitts, I may still make increases, but I’ll follow my modifications through row 21, then on row 22, I’ll knit instead of increasing. And row 23 will be the thumbhole bind-off row. Does that makes sense?

Finished first mitt today, they look REALLY funny not on a wrist/hand because of the ribbing at the top and bottom, but I love the look and feel of them while wearing them! :)

Finished 2nd mitt tonight. Very pleased with mitts, so quick and easy - they’d be a great mitt to have in multiples. :) Color is perfect for these mitts, seen best in direct light.
