Slipped first stitch of every row to make neater edges/picking up stitches easier.

I liked the stripes pixielith did so I added those.

Mods for v-neck
Decreased 12 sts total (decreased 1 on each RS in last 24 rows) of each side panel.
Back:
Row 34 (“next row”): K 3 (not 5) shoulder sts, BO back neck sts, K to end.
Left front piece (calculated 33 rows total for finished length before beginning) Ignored “neck shaping” instructions.
row 1 (and all WS): purl all sts
row 2: as in pattern
row 4 (and all future RS): knit to end
row 5-9: continue as established
row 10 (and all future RS): k1, k2tog, k to end
row 11 (and all future WS): purl to end
row 33: last row.
Right front piece (as left - ignore neck shaping instructions)
row 1 (and all WS): purl all sts
row 2: as in pattern
row 4 (and all future RS): knit to end
row 5-9: continue as established
row 10 (and all future RS): knit until 3 sts remain, SSK, knit 1

Neckband / buttonbands
Picked up sts from bottom of one side, up around neck, and down to bottom of other side. Knit one solid piece of ribbing, adding only 3 button holes. Only knit 3 rows before holes, holes on 4th row, then 3 rows after holes before BO b/c I didn’t want the back of the neck too high.

Finished sweater is very cute. My v-neck mod seems to have the ribbing around the neck pull the vest in towards the middle a bit, but we’ll see how it blocks and wears. Maybe next time add a few extra sts when picking up around the neck? I think I like it though. Super fast knit. Only worked on this a few days - it sat waiting for blocking for nearly a month.

Yep - blocking helped it a lot. I like it.
