Notes

10/2/11 - Everytime I think of Treebeard the Ent wandering around Fangorn Forrest all alone I think, “hey, he needs a friend.” Someone like Merry and Pippin who would hang out in his branches and listen to his stories and generally keep him company. Enter Companion Owl. The ideal friend. He doesn’t make too much noise, he sits for long periods of time in a tree and he even has a little decorative feathering on his belly.

I used a tiny bit of Diamond Yarn Luxury Collection Pilar in brown for the pupils and Cascade Eco in natural for the eyes. Not enough to list it above with the other yarns but this was a real mixed bag when it came to fibres!

I used:
-alpaca
-cotton
-wool
-silk
-and llama
I also used a fair bit of polyester fiberfill.

In the real world away from NerdWars, this fella is travelling to a friend whom I’ve neglected to thank properly for a gift she sent me before christmas. I hope this little owl helps to show her how much I appreciated her thoughtfulness (and friendship), along with a little yarn to sweeten the pot :)

9/2/11 - the beak is done, not much time for knitting these last few days… :(

8/2/11 - wings are knit, just need to sew them on. I’ve got my pollen all ready to go to make the beak and feet.

7/2/11 - the body is done. I need to remember to do colourwork on wooden needles. It’s so much easier to get my floats loose enough with sticky wood, at least until I get better. Cute fellow so far. Tomorrow I may get some feet done…

AM - my goal is to get started on this tonight. I’d like to finish him by the weekend and get him posted by next monday.

3/2/11 - I’m not sure what stash yarn I’ll be using, I’ll dive tonight.

I’m hoping to use this project in the NerdWars under the Bonding/Technical Challenge. I’ll be using different yarns in my stash to make this toy.

I can tie this fellow to my Team Precious because I’m sure this fellow lived in Fangorn forrest with the Ents. He spends his time clinging to Treebeard. I’ll be using forrest friendly colours to help him blend into his background.

I’m also giving this as a gift to an Itty Bitty friend, along with a little something else. She is long overdue for some saucey-goodness.
