Notes

7/7/12 - finished the needle felting. I think the forget me nots turned out really well. I love this little castle!

24/6/12 - I’m planning on sewing up the small house today. I should be able to get it done. I’m scrapping the crochet house for now. I have the roof for it though and I really want to make it but I just don’t have time right now.

25/5/12 - felted the roof for the needle house and the crochet hook house. I felted a strip of knitting and maybe I can use that for the crochet hooks, it may be too short length wise. I think I’ll scrap the dpn house for now.

After the roofs are dry I’ll some needle felting and embroidery.

15/4/12 - finished felting the crochet house, had a felting issue with the part that hold the crochet hooks… the yarn was mystery brown yarn, I thougt was wool, but it didn’t felt. So I cut it off the main part and now I’m knitting a long strip to felt and then sew on. Pain!

I also finished the dpn house. I wanted to use up the bit of Lopi I have, looks great but didn’t really felt well. It got very hairy. Very hairy! I’ll need to shave it for sure.

Both houses are wrapped and drying. The roofs are finished but not felted. So I’m done knitting mostly. Just need to finish felting and assemble…

14/4/12 - finished the small home and felted it. I’ve made mods already of course. I held the yarn double and did straight stockinette until i figured it would be big enough not to shrink a lot when felted and it was fine. The home is drying on a bug vase I have. I think I’ll sew on a small bit of felt inside for the needles since I don’t have the “bars”.

I cast on for the crochet size and did the same thing. This time I cast on 10 stitches more than the pattern said to. Again I’m nervous of over shrinkage when I felt it so I’m knitting more rows than the pattern calls for. If it’s too much I’ll just trim it.

I’m modding the inner flap. Instead of holding the yarn double I’m using one strand and just knitting plain stockinette until it looks long enough to hold crochet hooks. I did do a purl row as my turning row before I switched to the flap but no decreases. I’ll sew it on according to the pattern.

9/4/12 - I have lots of wool bits that I would love to use up… these little houses will do that, plus I can organize my bigger dpns and crochet hooks in a fun way…

I’m on a use up the bits kick lately and this project is very satisfying!

Thanks Mary Rose for the birthday rak!

21/2/12 - so cute! I have bits of leftover felting wool lying around, I could make these! These would go great with my gnomes :)
