20/2/11 - love them, love them so much I’m making them again but for me this time!

19/2/11 - blocking, yay!

AM - finished 2nd mitten (thumb too) last night. I ripped out the top decrease portion of the first mitten. I didn’t follow the pattern when I knit it and thought it would be ok but the second mitten is just so much nicer.

Mental note : messing with the pattern doesn’t always make things better… maybe these designer people do the things they do for a reason… hmm…

18/2/11 - why am I always afraid I’m going to run out of yarn? I’m dangerously low on the peacock.

12/2/11 - finished the 2nd cuff and most of the thumb gusset.

5/2/11 - finished the first mitten sans thumb and started the cuff on the second yesterday. I’m not sure how much time I’ll have today to knit but I should get thru the cuff at least.

4/2/11 - I forgot how hard I find colourwork! I wasn’t reading the chart correctly and had to frog 5 rows, now I’ve got it but I’m trying desperately to have even floats. I sure hope blocking works miracles with this mitten!

examples of prime numbers:

  • the cuff is a 2x2 rib, 2 is a prime #
  • I knit the cuff 23 rounds long, 23 is a prime #
  • one of the rounds is increase every 13 sts, 13 is a prime #
  • I had to frog 5 rounds into my colourwork chart to correct an error (on my part not the pattern), 5 is a prime number
  • After I placed the thumb stitches on scrap wool, I knit 29 rounds, 29 is a prime #

3/2/11 - winding my skeins tonight and swatching.

I’m doing this pattern for the Nerd Wars Prime Numbers Challenge. There are 29 stripes of alternating colours on each mitten. I’m sure there are more prime numbers I can come up with while knitting this pattern. These are the numbers I’m looking for while knitting: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, and 97.

I’m also including this in my 11 for 2011 mitten challenge as #3. Yay!

9/12/10 - ordered 1 skein each of chantrelle and peacock Chickadee and 1 skein of oyster and columbine Tern. Will bag with pattern for 11 in 2011

for B next year… or if I can get knitting faster (maybe less sleep?) this christmas…
