Notes

I love this hat! It’s not too tight or too loose, and the design is lovely without being overwhelming. It’s nicely slouchy too.

The only thing is I ran into a couple of errors in the pattern. The ribbing doesn’t line up with the ribbing and lace as written - so I had to shift the design over one shift. Not a big deal though.

I also ran into a small discrepancy between the written and charted pattern. The chart is fine, but there’s a problem in the written instructions on row 3 of the lace and scallops. After you complete the ribbing, you’re supposed to K1 before gathering 3. But because the ribbing is P1, K1, that gives you two knit stitches beside each other. This offsets the ribbing after the gather 3 by 1, so I removed the extra K1. The chart is correct though, so I skipped the rest of the written instructions and used only the chart.

Cute pattern though! I pulled lots of inspiration from Haines Alaska while I knit it, from yarn choice to colour, or the design description reminding me of the Harbor and coast. It turned out to be a nice souvenir knit. :)

Here’s a blog post where I babbled about this hat!
