I really liked the whole design of this pattern when I knit my first version, so I decided to use it as a guide for this one.

I wanted to stash-bust some leftover bits of worsted, so I started the ribbing section using the green and knit until I ran out of yarn, eliminating the lace-work. I switched to grey, intending to knit the rest of the hat with it, but I ran out of yarn. Another dive into the leftover drawer yielded this brown finished the hat and a loose pompom finished it off nicely.

Or so I thought. I found the colour change between green and grey too abrupt, so I dived into the drawer again and found some dark grey to duplicate stitch on a zig zag pattern. I love the final look! I hope whoever winds up with it enjoys it - it was fun to knit.
