2017-03-05 ETA: Added some photos of the slippers (sans eyes and one nose) after doing some mending on a couple of holes in the left slipper. :)

These slippers are so adorable and just flew off the needles! I felted them (twice) today, and am just waiting for them to dry so I can add the ears and face.

I started felting using advice from this Knitty article (except using a mixing bowl and a potato masher instead). Took a while but it seemed to do the trick. Except when I tried to shape them to my foot, they were still initially about 1.5 inches too long. Molding them like clay helped a lot, but they were still a little loose.

Googling around lead me to this TECHknitting article, and as soon as I read this line:

The felting and shrinking usually occurs when the cold water shocks the wool

…I ran back and started to follow their method, alternating between hot (and a few boiling water baths) and cold running water. Did the trick perfectly! They’re super thick and dense, but it took me about an hour to get there.
