Notes

A pair of socks, toe-up. I did them one at a time, which is unusual for me these days (I normally use “magic loop” to work two at at time). I wanted to try out the new square dpn’s I was given for my birthday.

The bobbles are braille. It spells out the word “yakawow” repeatedly in three columns (it’s sort of a nod to the streams of code in the Matrix film posters). It’s not much use as braille (the socks are too squishy, and my knitting isn’t regular enough), but I like the idea of a coded message stitched into the texture of the socks.

If you want to understand what yakawow means, this blogpost explains it quite well. There is a special connection between yakawow (or rather “yuck and wow”) and socks, for full details watch this. It also explains why it’s fitting that I’m knitting them one at a time.
