Notes

This is one of the fun-est, fast-est and favorite-est accidental projects I’ve ever had!!

My daughter and grandsons were in town for their annual December, month long, visit. I will not lie… I go through withdrawals from my LYS. BUT, we make NUMEROUS trips to Hobby Lobby for Christmas projects, etc. In my desperation… I fondled this yarn… and LOVED the way it felt. I surmised it might enlarge the Baby Sophisticate enough to make Roo a larger version than his first.

Almost as soon as I started it, I recognized it was going to be MUCH larger than Roo… and I had a secret hope it might be large enough for me. ;)

After they headed home, I picked it back up… did a little math and decided it would work perfectly for me… and decided to make it with cap-like sleeves, more like a vest (which I love to wear… way more than sweaters).

I followed the pattern exactly for the larger of the two sizes except for after the separation of the sleeves, I knit to 8 inches and did an increase just like the raglan increase at the side seam (2 increases per side seam - M1, K2, M1). Then I did three rows (P row, K row, P row) and did the same increase again -- giving me a total increase of 8 stitches. I think if you have slender hips this would NOT be necessary. Then I knit to 13 1/2 inches and finished with the seven rows of garter stitch. All bind-offs were stretchy.

Went back to sleeves and simply bound off with stretchy bind-off. I did not do anything under the arms so it would not be bulky… I’m big on comfort.

Result was a FUN, FAST and favorite little vest!! I LOVE it… And, I’m just plain unapologetic about loving this yarn. I did three cowls in it, too. Soft, no shedding, good body. A total surprise! =D

Bust: 36 inches
Hips: 40 inches

Nape to hem: 21 1/2 inches

(yoke: I’m not really sure how to measure this correctly, but appears to be about 8 - 8 1/2 inches deep)
