Notes

My first ever gloves or mitten project! Knit as my Camp Loopy Project 2. Like all my projects, it has a wabi-sabi element: I missed a cable cross on the right thumb. C’est la vie!

Mods
My only mods were DPNs instead of magic loop & adding a couple extra sts around each finger/thumb join to add to their circumference.

Pattern
Well-written with one exception: the 2 ‘ribbon’ symbols used to indicate CO extra sts at thumb opening show the black horizontal line beneath them on the chart, which makes it appear they should be CO the waste yarn when in actuality they should be CO to the working needle.

Yarn
Love the yarn, although it appears it will pill quickly.

Progress Notes
8/14: All done, & just in time!

8/13: Pinky/ring finger done.

8/12: Sick today, so only managed to finish Chart B. Deadline fast approaching.

8/11: Meant to get farther, but drank some wine & had to stop; finished up to L thumb hole.

8/9: Right thumb knit & Glitten accomplished! (Thumb = 3 repeats + 1st 4 rows of 4th). CO for #2, finished Chart A.

8/8: Whee! Fingers! After a bit of getting used to the fiddly awkwardness of DPNs & such a small circumference, it’s really fun. Finished both ‘fingers’.

8/7: As this is my first glove/mitten project, the waste yarn bit for the thumb flummoxed me but good. But thanks to this forum post, I believe this is one form of the "peasant thumb". A little Google-fu turned up this helpful blog post that explained the process better (IMO). The key? The 2 little 'ribbon' symbols at the end of the waste yarn bit do NOT mean 'CO 2'; it means 'CO the # of sts you put on waste yarn'. Scratch that: I am full of shit. Thanks to MissyB for hooking me up & reminding me that following the instructions really does work. The ‘CO 2’ go on the working needle, not the waste yarn. Duh. Finished right hand Chart B.

8/6: Finished (R) Chart B up to “put sts onto waste yarn” bit.

8/4: Knitting (R) Chart A. FAIL. Frogged & re-knit for the WIN! Started Chart B (done thru row 4).

7/19-8/3: Hiatus during Sock Summit.

7/18: Finally cast on. Knit first 10 rows of cuff #1.

7/14: Swatched. Looks like 3.5mm/US4 will do it.

(Note to self: for the matching hat Lotta made, I think she used the Mustikka pattern - modified with the appropriate cable charts. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mustikka )
