I started from the pattern but modified it heavily:

• made it longer (to the bum)
• omitted the cables on the body
• made the sleeves in stocking stitch rather than ribs

Also the shawl collar turned out funny - it wouldn’t sit up flat - so I reshaped it.

The wearer chose the buttons.
