Notes

I cast this project on while on an annual trip to visit family in Arizona.

I like the pattern a lot: the cable motif was nice and easy to memorize once I got going. It’s a good balance of something to focus on (cables/etc) and simple (stockinette). The body is worked in one piece, then sleeves worked separately in the round, matress-stitch seamed sleeves, three-needle bind-off shoulders, and knit-on button and neck bands.

I heard Chrissy from the Manic Purl podcast review this pattern and I have to agree with her comments: the shoulders are set in a little too deep and the sleeves are a little too tight for my arms. If I do this pattern again (which I would consider), I’d decrease less severely for the shoulder shaping and knit the sleeves on the same size needles as I knit the body.

I found really nice buttons at Britex Fabrics here in SF. I stood at the counter and looked through multiple boxes of tomato-red buttons before I saw these. They catch the light nice and kinda look like reflectors. I like the way they give a little sparkle to the cardigan.

If you’re thinking about making this pattern, I’d recommend it!
