Notes

mods for shallower shape - centre decs every third row (therefore helps to not work cdd) and sssk and k3tog edge decs every other row for 21 stripes; then ssk and k2tog to end.

worked first three cdd only, then worked ssk, k, k2tog instead.

25 jan - rpt 4 rows of edging 129 times; actually not too bad, did 30 rpts last night
26 jan - 77 rpts
1 feb - edging complete, lace and all; took 47 grams on 4.5mm needles. first stripe in sandstone.
4 feb - decided that i want to do my central decreases every third row but was perplexed how to do cdd on wrong side. fell asleep last night pondering the nature of the cdd and how to do it on the wrong side of the work. finally decided that k1, sl the next two sts pwise, place them back on left needle in new alignment, put the knitted st back on left needle too, psso, pass the single st back to the right needle might work, although am not entirely sure about the slipping orientation. then woke up this morning and remembered that i am not doing cdd so it’s not an issue at all.
6 feb - done with stripes. I kind of chickened out on my chosen decreases, only did them for 21 stripes, the switched to normal edge decreases, stayed with central dec every third row. Thought that I could add some depth to the shawl this way but, hmm, have ended up w a very diamond shaped shawl. Will try blocking it to see if the knit fabric can accommodate but otherwise will probably have to rip stripes back and continue with same decreases …
7 feb - my goodness, it blocked straight across the top!
10 feb - knitting done, do still need to block it
5 mar - finally blocking! is about 6 foam blocks span, 2 and a half deep

can get more sandstone if nec on ebay.
