Notes

Finishing up this tricolored cotton at last! I bought this fiber in the late 90s/early 00s, so it’s about time! I started spinning the singles over 15 years ago, plied some and spun a little more during TdF a couple of times.

This year it’s getting finished!

I finished spinning the remaining 2 oz on 6/14. Once it is plied, I’ll have 4 oz of 2-ply cotton yarn. Depending on the yardage, I think I will weave fabric with it, but that’s a different project. grinning

Plied the bobbins and ended up with quite a bit on the second bobbin. I think I forgot that the first bobbin started with some already on it. Ooops! So I had to ply the remainder from a center pull ball.

Finished the cotton yarn by boiling with some borax (base) to see if it would deepen the color of the natural brown. I don’t think it really did, but LOTS of guck came off the yarn. The water was tea colored after the boiling. I think that was more than 15+ years of dust. joy
