Mom started these by making the basket and then starting one of the chicks. Frustrated, she gave it to me to finish. I know why! This yarn is terrible for crochet. So hard to find the hole to put your hook. So hard to count your stitches.

I modified the pattern because chicks don’t really have combs.(I know--I object to Bee Movie, too, because the worker bees should not have been male!) I also didn’t want to make a dark one with light eyes. So I made two yellow chicks and one buff colored chick.

Found out that apparently these are made to be scrubbiest and that is why they use the scrubby yarn and stuff them with nylon net. Maybe I’ll give them to a friend for bath toys?
