One square as given in pattern gives me a square of app. 12.5 cm.

Each square weighs 8 g, i.e. I will get 6.25 squares from a 50 g ball, 21,28 metres per square.

Timed myself - I need 28 minutes for 1 square, incl. sewing in the ends.

Attached the first 10 squares together, using a single crochet join. Tried the braided versions linked in other projects and the original joints as given in the pattern, but did not like them.

Decided that I do not want to buy additional acrylic, but will first try to make do with what I already have.

As I said earlier, I do not like the Stylecraft,it is way too soft for my taste and gives some quite floppy squares.

Will see how the budgetyarn holds up, never worked with it so far.

Squared it off again with 7 x 7 squares.
i am somehow tempted to maybe add a border and leave it at this size as I totally do not like how the Stylecraft crochets up with a 4 mm hook - I should use a 3.6 mm for that I think.

Nevertheless, I want to try the budgetyarn for crochet, so I might leave the square in hibernation for a while until I get to my storage room.

Decided not to add the budgetyarn but surround the whole thing with one row of double crochets. Have enough for 1 row of the white and probably 2 of the red Stylecraft yarn.

Finished today! I did 2 rows of red Stylecraft and finally a shell stitch border with (1tr, 1 chain) x5 around the edges.

Used 94 g of the white and 60 g of the red stylecraft in total.

Blanket is about 120x120 cm, which is quite a good size for a lap blanket.
