Yeah -nearly ready - I think I will crochet a border around it. I really like the outcome, especially how the (yes, acrylic…) colours stand out bright. Could be a little bigger, but after 35 squares, I wanted to get it finished. It is nice to use as a lap blanket when sitting on the sofa - and maybe I will add a really big border, so that will enlarge it a little. I assume it is around 160x120 cm (will measure later)

Inspired by the blankets my Granny used to make (her first name was Katharina, called Käthe, hence the name) and using the cheapest acrylic I could find … Love it so far. Though the yarn is of course not at all a luxury stuff, the pilling is not too bad when used in crocheting, I love the colour combination and also how quickly one square knits up. I am not sure whether I will stick to solid coloured squares, could well be that I will mix colours to use every scrap of the yarn. So far it looks as if I will get at least 2, maybe 3 app. 20 cm / 8 inch squares out of one ball of yarn.

ETA a photo of my parental Grandmother, Katharina, calle Käthe, at the age of app. 14-16 years (she was born 1906, so this must be around 1920) in her brand-new dress - love this photo!
