Notes

I bought the yarn two years ago to make a sporty, more rustic cardigan like the Hanne I made from the same yarn in a different colourway »

I first thought about making the Girlfriends Cardigan, but I do not have the pattern and I first want to use what I have. So I think I will give this pattern a try.

Currently, I do not want to make pockets, I plan to make the sleeves a bit puffier than given in the pattern and I want to make it slightly shorter, app. belt length.

Also, I plan to make the button bands wider and add more garter elements alltogether. I think I want to make this in quite a loose gauge.

This will be my Christmas Time knitting project of 2019 and I am really looking forward to making this!

December 1, 2018

This is really fun so far! I like how the saddle shoulders look and I also like the short rows (I used German short rows, not wrap and turn). The colour is more grey than blue, most true in the picture with the book.

December 9, 2018

Started stockinette fronts today, will do a much wider button band of 15 stitches on each side.

December 11, 2018

Seperated sleeves from the body, 1 row after competion of third button hole

December 15, 2018

Started the A-line increases after the fifth button hole.
Really like this so far.

December 20, 2018

Body is 41 cm now shortly before the 6th button hole. Plan to need the bottom garter cuff 7 cm wide, i.e. the same width as the button band on the fronts. But I doubt I will finish this in 2018…

December 21, 2018

I am at 43 cm now and tried it on for the first time today- seems to be good fitting. I think 55 cm will be the ideal length, so I will knit 5 more cm in stockinette before starting the bottom garter band.

December 22, 2018

Started the bottom garter edging of the body today.

I am currently reading this book » after finishing this book » - knitting and reading for christmas is my absolute favourite christmas ritual!

Started 1st sleeve

Finished first sleeve

December 31, 2018

Finished 2nd sleeve at 9 pm on New Year’s Eve- winning a game of yarn chicken with app. 10 m left from my third ball of yarn.

Now I will have to decide if and where I add Icord edging.

January 1, 2019

Attached an Icord around the neck and on the button hole side of the front bands using a tutorial of Crasy Sylvie - good that I had a look before I started, otherwise I would have started with the right side facing…

January 1, 2019

Oh-oh…. It fluffed up beautifully after washing, but unfortunately also grew in length, so I think this will not be the cropped cardigan I was looking for…

Well, then I will just have to knit another one ;-)
Really like the colour, too!

January 4, 2019

Sewed on buttons, so this is finished-finished-finished now! It grew quite a lot after washing, so not as cropped as I wanted. Also the shoulders are a little on the wide side, but it is still ok to me.

And the arms are also quite long, but I tend to have cold when my arms are not totally covered.

So in total I would say this is a success! Next time, I will go for a smaller size and take into consideration that this might grow lengthwise.

Will probably make this pattern again, as the saddle shoulders fit me quite well, I think , and I like the construction a lot.
