Notes

Wanted to start this for quite some time and after I finished 7 garter ridges on my Fading Circles, I decided to reward myself with this. Currently planning to mostly use the Loonywooly yarn for the back and the Opal Monet for the front, the leftovers for stripes and such. We will see how this will work out.

Okay…. stockinette in rows is kind of boring and slow…
Definitely will need a progress keeper here.
And as my gauge in rows is way loser than in rounds, I have to be really careful not to pull out the needle!

October 4, 2020

Finished back, started short rows for the front necklines. My main colour for the front is the self-striping Opal sockyarn, I really like how it looks so far!

October 5, 2020

Started the straight part of the front, I do the top-down front version and knit the front edge stitches directly to the side seams:

Knit side: Knit to last stitch, slip wyif, turn
Pick up side seam stitch, k2tg, purl back

Purl side: Knit to last stitch, ssk with seam stitch
S1wyif, kint back

October 10, 2020

Finished front.
Picked up 112 stitches around the neck, will decrease to app. 100 and will do a simple stockinette rolled neck, no Icord - at least that is the plan.

October 10, 2020

Finished neck with 15 rounds, ending with 92 stitches around.

Picked up 68 stitches around the armhole, will do 4 row alternating stripes.

October 11, 2020

Finished first sleeve, did 12 grey stripes and did the cuff in green.

October 18, 2020

Wore it for the first time, quite like it!
If I made it again, I might go for a bit less positive ease, it is really very wide.

Nevertheless, I love the construction and I would do my mods again, i.e. knitting the front from the top down, attaching it to the side seams as I go.

Length is fine, could may be do with 1-2 cm less length. I did not use a lot of yarn, two full 100g skeins, i.e. 840 metres plus some leftovers for the sleeves and neck - I would assume abaout another 100- 120 g, so the total pullover will be around 300-320 grams of sockyarn - not a lot for such an oversized sweater. I see more in my future…
