I decided to make a little pillow cover from the cotton leftovers I have in stash. The Cotton DK is slightly thicker, so I will use it for the last 2 rounds.

I only do 6 rounds instead of 7 and I also do not change direction as I usually do not have a problem with skewing.

My first square is 12 cm, so I am aiming for 4x4 squares for each half of the pillow. We will see how far my cotton stash will take me.

Finished first 2 squares and used the join-as-you-go technique given in the pattern -quite like it so far.

Joined the first 3 squares and decided that 3x3 squares will be big enough

Finished 7th square, 2 more to go. Ran out of the orange yarn in the centre of the 8th square.

Finished first 9 squares. I am not sure if I want to use the same squares for the other side of the pillow or if I will use a different there- will have to browse the pattern library for that…

Finished the second half of the pillow in one day. Decided to stay with this pattern, but used the thinner Safran for the white parts.

Will probably use the thicker yarn to crochet the two halfs together

Crocheted the two halfes together with single crochets, than added two rounds of double crochets on the open side and then crocheted 6 button holes by chain 2, skip 2 double crochets.

Crocheted the buttons by just doing a circle of 12 double crochets each.

Quite like the outcome!
