Notes

Well, the swatch I like gets about 4 sts/in, so by my calculations I should make the smallest size. Let’s cast on and see how we go!

OH LORD the dye lot color change is so extreme. I decided to make it look like that was on purpose. It’s also looking like I’m going to have a whole extra skein of this yarn untouched. We shall see…

Last night I did the first couple inches of the yoke. It looks like it’s going to be huge, but of course, this is the widest part of the body. It’s really nice just using two colors. Stranded Knitting is my favorite Knitting! I jumped right into the stranded part with no short rows because:
a: The last sweater I knit by this designer, I felt there were unnecessary short rows in the middle of the back which is not where I need them. Sure enough, that sweater pooched in the back.
b: I’m going to add short rows up at the back of the neck where I do need them, and plan to do a higher neck than the pattern calls for.

Made it to the top of the yoke! I have 83 after the dec. round. Slipped them onto a US 5 circ to work on later. And all of a sudden it doesn’t look to huge anymore! The only mods I did on the yoke was to accidentally put the decs from rnd 36 into rnd 34. No big deal.

It’s flying! And happy day, the numbers are working out perfectly (knitting the smallest size is getting me a great fit for my size L measurements). I’m firmly back in the land of loving worsted weight sweaters, yay. All I want to do is knit stranded yokes.

At 5” from armpit, began some waist decs (4 sts dec each rnd).

Sleeve notes:

57 sts at top. Realized a week later that I knit the first few inches of each sleeve with US 7s (instead of 6s) because I’m a dingbat.

Well, I finished it tonight, tried it on, and thought, “I hate the body shaping. And it’s too short.” So I frogged back to the waist and it’s just gonna be straight on til morning. Will probably finish over the weekend. At least the arms & neck are done!

To be honest… this isn’t my favorite FO. At all. I’m not happy about the dye lots being so different (that’s on me, I knew what I was buying), I’m not happy about how the torso fits (before blocking; we’ll see what happens after it dries). It’s weird, isn’t it? Kinda? I dunno. But I couldnt bring myself to frog the thing. I love the yoke! I should have knit everything else in the yellow and just used the orange in the yoke. Alas.
