Notes

Jan 17 — I’ve been winding off little balls of colour to make the Sprocket Socks). The pattern calls for mini skeins but I’m using segments of colour from self striping yarn. The skeins are seconds from Gauge Dye Works that were shared with our knit group ages ago (I’ve been coveting them heart). Seeing thishandmadelife socks pop up in my feed inspired me to buy the pattern — I love the pallet she chose and I’ve tried to pick out colours that are similar!

Jan 20 — These are such an addictive knit, I’m finding it hard to put this project down, I’m obsessed with the colour changes! So you can imagine how bummed I was when I paused for a try on and couldn’t get it over my heel :( It’s 150% my fault, because despite swatching in the round (w/ multiple needles) and properly blocking my swatch, I completely neglected to swatch and measure the slip stitch pattern (doh!!). Apparently it was entire stitch per inch tighter across these sections!!

It’s a really good thing I’m loving this knit so much, I don’t mind starting these sweet little socks all over again. I’m going to try moving onto a larger needle when working the slipped stitch sections and see if it helps! Wish me luck!!!

Mar 11 — I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve started these socks three times. Each mistake has been user error! The first sock was too tight at the slip stitches and I couldn’t get it over my heal (left sock). The second sock I absentmindedly made the slip stich pattern too long at each colour transition and wasn’t happy with it (middle sock)! And now, working my way through sock number 3, I’m still enjoying every moment and loving this pattern so much!

Apr 12 — I’m finally pulling out the toe of my first sock to replace the last purple stripe with blue! I am so close to the finish line and cannot wait to wear these!!! heartheartpulsepurple_heartblue_heart

Apr 15 — Finally finished!!! These are absolutely the most comfortable socks I’ve ever knit. I highly recommend the pattern, it was such a pleasure to knit — I’ve already cast on another pair!

I’ll also mention that the pattern recommends purchasing the Fish Lips Kiss heel (it’s only $1 here on Ravelry) but includes written instructions for a short row heel. I opted to use the FLK heel and love the way it fits my foot.
