Notes

This is my second Douglas Cardigan in two weeks. One for me, one for my granddaughter--I’ll let her choose. My next one is going to be a solid color, longer, puffier, no buttons or pockets and made with Rowan Kid Classic in Bittersweet. May start that today and finish in one week if I go as quickly as my previous two!

The pattern calls for knitting the button band separately and sewing on after. I try to avoid sewing whenever I can so instead I picked up stitches for the button band, 3 for every 4 for the center bands and then picked up each stitch on the back neck, and did a k2p2 ribbing. I made the ribbing a bit over two inches wide. I made 5 buttonholes evenly spaced between the start of the V and the hem. Buttonholes were made in the middle of the button band by casting off two stitches, then casting them on again on the following row. I cast off knitwise on the right side for a clean finish. Also, no pockets.

Very nicely written pattern with endless possibilities. I was lucky to be able to use my stash for the entire sweater. I ran out of white so did have to supplement with two other whites from my stash, (one was an unknown) but I don’t think you can tell the difference between them.
