The detail of the nifty neckband is below. The pattern begins with an inch of stockinette, then a purl folding line, then another inch of stockinette. Then you fold at the purl line and attach the cast on edge to your knitting by knitting two together. I found it best to turn the piece to the wrong side and pick up the purl bump then turn it to the right side and knit the two together. It will make sense when you are doing it.

Added one row stockinette before I started the first M1 increase row--one row of plain knitting will make the M1s a little bit easier to do.

Added two sets of German short rows to the back neckline right after I did the first increase row. This lifts up the back neckline a little more than a half inch which is fine for a summer sweater. (Some one has asked me how I add short rows when it’s not in the pattern. Here’s what I do: I generally start the first SR where I think my clavicle is, turn, make the double stitch (DS), work around the back and stop at the same place on the other side, turn, make DS then following rows would be three to four stitches before the last SR. You’ll resolve all your short rows on the last row--the first full round. Starting at the clavicle seems to go far enough into the front without going too far, and of course gets the entire shoulder.)

I could not get gauge even with tiny needles so to make the smallest size I did not add the twelve stitches after sleeve separation. I think this might run big anyway so try on right after the sleeve separation to see how it’s going.
