Notes

Half the rows of this patterns are worked in regular SC; the other half, in Reverse SC, but it is not the same stitch we now call RSC. The pattern gives the instructions for it. I tried it for several bands and and then reverted to a regular SC stitch. I keep looking at the bands and can’t tell in which band I stopped doing the RSC and began the regular SC.

This pattern has been published several times under slightly different names.
I first worked in 1977 and it was called “The Ultimate Afghan”. I found it in McCall’s Needlework and Crafts, Fall/Winter ‘74/’75.

It’s also published in a separated leaflet McCall’s 837-NB called “ Crocheted Border Afghan”.

I’ve seen references to it as being in The McCall’s Book of Afghans called “Border Afghan”

It’s probably made with Red Heart because I can remember buying the yarn at a Ben Franklin’s and buying the exact color numbers given in the pattern.
