Notes

Oh my - over 20 years ago I bought a pattern and yarn at one of the early Stitches, in King of Prussia, PA. I knit stockings for my kids, and later mittens (to match, to use as Christmas stockings) for my husband and I.

This year, both my kids were (or will be) married. And so hanging on to things pays off. I personally might wish I’d used colors with a little more subtlety than these, but all the young ones insisted that these new socks be just the same. And so they are, except, of course for the name. We’re hoping to celebrate together at the end of December, so for this year, this stocking will hang from my mantle. Wow! I need to find another hanger. I don’t suppose Strosnider’s hardware has the same ones?

Only modification - added a stripe with Tim’s name. I did this for my kids too - Easy to do with knitters’ graph paper, or just a spreadsheet program filling in colored squares. The other stripes are 11 rows, so that’s the best choice (11 rows by 80 stitches) but I think I made this “name stripe” 10 rows high.
