Notes

My friend Lora had a super idea for our knitting group to knit this scarf. We’re all doing it a little differently but, at our annual knitting retreat in November this year (our 10th anniversary!), we’re going to take a picture of our scarves almost done.

I’ve adapted this design. This is what I’ve done differently:

(My gauge is: 6.5 sts/inch and 7 rows/inch with size US 2 needle in garter stitch)

Day 1: Cast on 56 sts using US 2 needle with color of the day.
Day 2: Knit 2 rows with color of the day for that temperature.
Day 3- end of month: Repeat Day 2

For the next month, use seed stitch instead of garter stitch for every day of the entire month.

Switch back to garter for the month after that. Alternate after each month. Then, you’ll be able to tell which temps go with which month.

On New Year’s Eve, seed stitch across row with color for the temperature of the day.
Next row: bind off loosely.

Weave in all ends.

I am keeping a journal along with this and taking pics of my progress and temperature of the day.

Very excited and looking forward to having a new scarf to wear in 2015!

NOTE: I decided not to take the HIGH temperature for the day and just use whatever color for the temperature is at the time I am knitting on the scarf. Also, I am braiding the ends instead of weaving them in. I use 3 strands for each braid.

NEW NOTE: I didn’t use all white (as you can see) for the yarn, but I didn’t weigh my yarn colors before I started and not sure how much of each I used. I listed white because that was the easiest. I used less than 3 balls of the Palette for the entire 2014 year. I’m adding 2015 to this year, since the scarf was too short for my liking. I’ll be taking the temps/color for 2015 at the exact same time as 2014 to compare the weather from last year to this year :)
