Happy #WorldEmojiDay!

With Freshman students moving into their dorms, I decided it is time for this dorm essential, a Flower Power Emoji Meter. Little did I know until last week that there’s actually a “World Emoji Day”!

Other Materials for the Flower

• Some ends of black worsted weight yarn, i.e. 3334 Cast Iron, for the face details.
• Heart buttons, i.e. Sew-Ology item #483263, optional
• Small Velcro fasteners, i.e. Velcro item #91614, optional
• 6 Yards of 3312 Butter (yellow) for each additional emoji
• Stuffing material

Materials for the Key Chain

• 12 yards of 3312 Butter (yellow) for each puff
• Key chains, i.e. Darice item #1880-83
• Stuffing material

Note: You can use any worsted weight yarn as a substitute.

How to Make It

• Weave and sew together 2 “flowers” for the back and front
• Sew front to back and stuff lightly; quilt “tie” the hexagons to get the puffy effect
• Weave 2 “feet”
• Knit the legs using a French Knitter or any other method to create an i-cord
• Use photos to guide assembling the flower toy
• Embroider emojis of your choice!
