Notes

Welcome our mascot “Turtle”, or if it has to have a name, it’s “Charlie”!

Turtle is made of 7 hexagons in “Straw”, and 2 hexagons in “Irelande”. Eventually we will provide instructions, but until then, feel free to use the pictures to craft your own turtle. A few hints are given in our Youtube video How the TURTLE Loom™ Got Its Name

The eyes are two rounds of black felt, about dime size, sewn on to make Turtle child safe. Stuffing is Polyfil.

Additional Instructions

Weave:
(2) hexagons in “straw” for the head
(4) hexagons in “straw” for the legs
(1) hexagon in “straw” for the tail
(2) hexagons in “Ireland” for the body

Assembly:

  • For the head/body part: Sew one head piece to one body piece (make 2). Sew along all sides. Stuff before closing completely.
  • Back legs (make 2): Fold a hexagon in half, along the line of the starting tail. Sew along tow sides. Stuff, and close completely. Attach to body as pictured.
  • Front legs (make 2): Fold a hexagon in half, along the line of the starting tail. Graft the first folded side to form the rounded top of the legs as shown in the photo, then sew along one side. Stuff, and close completely. Attach to body as pictured.
  • For the tail, fold one hexagon in half, then fold it again. Sew along the folded side, attach to body as shown.

For a baby safe turtle, use black felt to cut two dime sized circles and sew them onto the head as eyes. Alternatively use buttons or plastic animal eyes.
